Hourglass Suppression - Selecting what values to use? Answered

You can enable hourglass suppression using the MATR HRGL command.

Hourglass suppression should only be used when you experience hourglassing in the mesh or stability is some extreme cases.

There are default values in the command reference for FB and BB options. FB/BB can be used for linear elastic and nonlinear materials.

For VISC option, start at 0.1 and can be used for liquids.

The goal is to minimise the amount hourglass suppression used in the model as much as possible because it is another form of loss that is non-physical.
