Model quits before end time with 'Flex - Illegal access termination' Answered

Hi there,

I am trying to run a model but it keeps exiting early (at 48%) with the message 'Flex - Illegal access termination'. I can get the model to run ok when I lower the simulation time or decrease the number of elements per wavelength however this isn't suitable as I need results from a longer run time and with a greater number of elements per wavelength.

Can anyone please advise on what the problem is/ what solutions there could be?

Thanks,

Laura

    Hi Laura,

Can you share your files via your preferred file sharing service and we can take a look please?

  • Hi Chloe,

I have figured out that it is a problem with the flex history file size, because I am running the simulation over a long time period the size of the resulting flex history file is huge.

I am wondering if there is a way for me to export only a certain portion of the time history using the pout command? I only need pressure time data over the final 10% of the simulation run time rather than over the full time period of the simulation. This would definitely fix my problem with the file size being too large.

I have shared the files with you on google drive.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Laura,

This is just a case of not assigning enough hardware resources, the resulting *.flxhst file is 16.89 GB so I ran on the cloud with 32 CPUs and 32 GB of RAM and it ran successfully. However, the file will be very slow to download and open so to save you some time, you can put the pout command wherever you want during the execution. Here is a PZT TxRx example where the simulation is only outputting the receive voltage to a flxhst after the transmission period.

  • Hi Chloe,

Thank you so much, this is really helpful and makes my simulation a lot easier to work with!

    Thanks again,
