The quality (Q) factor indicates how fast a resonator loses energy and can be used as a measure of device performance; the Q factor is a dimensionless parameter this is the ratio of energy stored to energy dissipated per oscillation. For example, a device with a high Q factor will resonate for longer (slower energy loss with lower damping).
