NDE

Nondestructive or non-destructive evaluation (NDE) refers to a term that is normally interchangable with the term NDT. However NDE refers to measurments that are more quantitive in nature. For example NDE wouldn't just locate a defect within a test medium it could also return information concerning the defects size, orientation and shape and more. NDE can also be used to determine physical characteristics of a material under test.

OnScale is used in a variety of NDE applications, from modelling transducers to wave-propagation and defect interaction through test-pieces. Multi-element arrays can be simulated to generate full inspection methods, e.g. FMC, or any other arbitrary arrangements. The rapid simulation times of OnScale have assisted industry in eliminating the need for fabricating expensive, bespoke test pieces for pioneering new inspection techniques.
