OnScale accepts material properties for isotropic materials in two primary formats: as bulk and shear wave velocities and as bulk and shear modulii. Unfortunately, many manufacturers do not provide data in either format, requiring conversion before use.
The Material Conversion Tool can be found in Analyst Mode as a default widget next to the Data Manager and Variable widgets. The tool can be moved around the workspace or switched off via the Workspace tab of the ribbon's application.
The Material Conversion Tool handles data in eleven formats:
- Bulk Modulus
- Shear Modulus
- Young’s Modulus
- Constrained Modulus
- Lame's Constant
- Poisson’s Ratio
- Stress Ratio
- Bulk Velocity
- Shear Velocity
Supplied with a density value and two other variables from the above list, the Conversion Tool converts these to values appropriate for use in OnScale. To copy any calculated material into a script simply tick the syntax box and copy the text into the script inserting a material name in the required space.
